Box Score 2 MISHAWAKA, Ind. ---The Bethel Pilots (11-39, 6-30) dropped both games to the Grace College Lancers (9-32-1, 5-30-1) in Saturday's doubleheader at Gardner Field 8-1 and 4-2 for the final doubleheader of the season.
GAME ONE
In the top of the first, Lancer Sami Lemler stepped up to the plate and smacked a round-tripper to left center (1-0) to initiate Grace's scoring.Â
The Pilots struggled at the plate in the early innings, with the Lancers recording three consecutive outs in the bottom of the second.Â
Sami Lemler continued to pull away in the bottom of the third as she sent a bomb to left for a three-run homer (4-0).Â
Morgan Blubaum scored Bethel's first run in the bottom of the fourth, following a sacrifice fly to center by third baseman
Kate Cooper to break up the shutout 4-1.
The Lancer weaponry continued to unfold, with Bree Gardinier recording the third home run for Grace in the top of the fifth to right center (5-1). Tia O'Connor also hit a dinger to left to lock in the 8-1 Lancer win in the top of the seventh.Â
Chloe Huff claimed the win in the circle after throwing a complete game, striking out three Pilots, walking four, and surrendering one run (earned).Â
Natalee McNeil took the loss after pitching for 3.1 innings, recording one strikeout, and yielding four runs.Â
GAME TWO
Grace demonstrated consistency at the plate at the commencement of the nightcap, posting a 3-0 lead over Bethel in the top of the first.
After a scoring stall in the second inning, the Lancers posted their final run in the top of the third (4-0).Â
Shortstop
Alyssa Forys answered in the bottom of the third with a two-base hit down the left field line, scoring Natalie McNeil, who reached on a walk (4-1).Â
In the bottom of the fourth,
Alyssa Forys smacked a single up the middle and advanced to scoring position on the throw, while
Shelby White crossed home (4-2).Â
Although the Pilots had the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth following singles by
Hannah Goldsborough,
Haylee Allen, and
Natalee McNeil, the Lancers secured the 4-2 victory to end the doubleheader.Â
Izzy Waddle received the win after throwing for four innings, posting one strikeout, walking three Pilots, and yielding two runs (two earned).Â
Harmony Looney was the losing pitcher, throwing for two innings, striking out two Lancers, walking three, and giving up four runs (two earned).Â
The Bethel Pilots conclude the 2025 season with three more wins than the 2024 season when the Pilots finished with an 8-41 record.Â
