Softball struggles on day three of the USSSA Space Coast Games

VIERA, Fla. --- Day three of the USSSA Space Coast Games ended with a pair of losses for the Bethel Pilots (3-7) against the Siena Heights Saints (3-4) and the Fort Lauderdale Eagles (16-6) on Tuesday.

VS SIENA HEIGHTS

Alyssa Forys put the Pilots up two runs in the bottom of the second from an RBI single, but Baker scored on an error by the left fielder.

The Saints answered in the top of the fourth with an RBI double and then took the lead with three more runs to 5-2.

SHU plated three more runs in the top of the fifth from a sacrifice fly to center, then a two-run blast to grow the advantage to 8-2.

Siena Heights scored their final two runs in the top of the sixth from an RBI single and an RBI double, but Bethel fired back with an RBI double by Maddy Shaw, an RBI single from Kate Cooper, and an RBI single by Jordan Markely. Bethel would fall short of the comeback 10-5.

Harmony Looney was given the loss after her 3.2 inning start, allowing five hits, four runs (three earned), walked three, and struck out two.

VS FORT LAUDERDALE

Both sides were in a scoreless gridlock through the first three innings before the Pilots struck first with a run in the top of the fourth, but the Eagles answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame.

The Eagles scored two more times in the bottom of the six before winning the game 6-1.

Bethel has a day off before facing Olivet Nazarene at 10 a.m. and Cornerstone at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 6 at the USSSA Space Coast Complex.
