Box Score MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- The Bethel Pilots (6-3, 3-0) defeated the Aquinas College Saints (3-7, 0-2) 3-1 in the Goodman Gymnasium on Saturday evening. The Pilots remain undefeated in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchups.
Thomas Dunkley led the Pilot offense with 13 kills. Dunkley also showcased six blocks, presenting an intimidating wall for the Aquinas attackers.
Pablo Tello scored 11 kills and led the team in digs (seven). Tello also put the pressure on Aquinas' serve reception, totaling two aces.
Ling Pak Him set four personal records, including kills (eight), aces (two), points (10.5), and blocks (1) in a single game.
McGwire Eigenrauch set personal season bests for assists (36), points (2.5), digs (four) and blocks (three).
In the first set,
Thomas Dunkley scored the first point for Bethel with a kill (1-0). Mid-set, the Pilots yielded a six-point run to the Saints as Bethel trailed 13-9.
Bethel picked up speed with a four-point run, thanks to sequential kills by
Christian Woumnga and
Ling Pak Him, which brought the score 14-13. Bethel gained a one-point lead after Aquinas made two attacking errors in a row (15-14).
The Saints secured another significant run (five points) and the first set 25-18.
Santana Roybal-Benson opened up the second set play with a kill (1-0). Roybal-Benson and
Thomas Dunkley formed a solid block to put Bethel up by two mid-set (12-10).
Ling Pak Him scored a kill off of Eigenrauch to record the largest lead of the set (eight points), as the Pilots led 22-14. The Pilots tied the overall score 1-1 with a 25-20 second set win.
In the third set, each team went point-for-point. The Saints presented a notable four-point run mid-set, leading 13-11.
Ling Pak Him scored a kill to jumpstart a three-point Bethel run. After two attacking errors from Aquinas, Bethel led 22-19. A kill from
Pablo Tello solidified the third set win for the Pilots, 25-22.
In the final set, the Saints put the pressure on the Pilots with a five-point run, leading 8-3.
Pablo Tello shone, exhibiting a kill and two consecutive service aces.
Jacob Massey and
McGwire Eigenrauch ended the run with a block (10-9).
Despite both teams being tied at 22-22, Bethel demonstrated their aggressive offense by earning the last three points of the game.

The Pilots return to conference play on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 7:00 p.m., as they face the Indiana Tech Warriors in the Goodman Gymnasium. The Warriors are also undefeated in WHAC play (2-0) and are 3-5 overall.
