BLUFFTON, Ind. — The Bethel Women's Bowling team hosted Crossroads League Tournament Two on Friday at EZ Bowl, marking the first USBC Collegiate Tier Two event held on string pinsetters since their certification in 2023.
With eight varsity teams and seven junior varsity teams competing, the Pilots placed 8th in the varsity field.
The Pilots were led by
Lillian Siwka (43rd, 150.67 Average), and followed closely by
Alexandra Burkholder (44th, 148.67) in a competitive field of 87 bowlers. Both athletes provided steady performances in an environment where scoring proved difficult across all teams.
Head Coach
Chris Adams noted how the new string pinsetter conditions influenced play, saying,
"The scores were low across the house; the string pins forced the ladies to be more accurate on their entry angle, and we struggled with that all day."
Following Friday's showing, Bethel returned to action quickly, competing in Crossroads League Tournament One on Saturday, Dec. 6. The event was hosted by the Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats at Crest Lanes in Marion, Ind.
On Saturday, the Pilots faced a larger field of 93 bowlers.
Alexandra Burkholder (33rd, 149 Average) posted another Top 50 Finish, alongside
Miley Phillips (39th, 140.33 Average).
The Pilots will next compete on Thursday, Jan. 22 at Ohio Bowling Conference Three in Columbus, Ohio.
