Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. ---The Bethel Pilots (16-16, 8-10) fell in three set (25-23, 25-22, 25-20) to the No. 12 Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars (24-7, 14-4) on Saturday evening in Ariel Arena.
Haley Biedenbach recorded a double-double with 28 assists and 14 digs. The junior setter also picked up a service ace.
Paige Franz showcased 14 digs, two aces, and three assists.
The Pilots held the lead for the beginning of the first, the most competitive set of the evening. The Cougars tied it up at 13-13 following a setting error by
Lily Vester.
During mid-set, neither team posted a run in the tug of war for points.
Sophia Beeson terminated a ball from
Haley Biedenbach to put the Pilots up 18-17, sending Mount Vernon into the first timeout of the night.
Ainsley Tacke put the last Bethel kill on the board as the Pilots led 22-20.
A four point run by the Cougars, followed by a final kill by Evelyn Brown, gave Mount Vernon the first set, 25-23.
With the Cougars' wins in sets two and three, Mount Vernon advances to the Crossroads League Semifinal.
The Bethel Pilots conclude the 2025 regular season with a 16-16 overall record and four wins over ranked opponents.
