PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. --- In the southern summer heat, the NAIA fifth-ranked Pilots battled in a highly offensive match with the 13th-ranked Keiser Seahawks at the MOBA Soccer Complex on Saturday night where
Piero Sabroso and
Jelle Born shined.
BU took 18 total shots and five of them were on frame in the Pilots holding a lot of the possession throughout the majority of the game.Â
In the opening minute, Sabroso sent a shot that was blocked by a defender and put up another in the sixth minute that was wide left before
Miguel Martins connected with
Jelle Born on a cross for Born's first goal of the season and gave the Pilots an early 1-0 lead going into halftime.
The second half was a burst of offense with Martins finding Sabroso for a header in the 54th minute for his third goal of the season and Martins had his third assist of the season, BU grew their lead to 2-0.
The Seahawks struck back not long after with a goal by Aldair Chavez and tied the game in the 63rd minute by Jacob Schnitzler. Both sides traded shots and Keiser had the last try before time ran out and the match ended in a 2-2 tie.
"It is unfortunate to not have created a two goal lead with the number of chances we created. I thought the guys put a good shift and just needed a little more focus on the finishes. We will continue to polish those small details and build confidence especially when playing top teams with the quality Keiser has," said head coach
Thiago Pinto.
THE NAIA ATLANTA CLASSIC CONTINUES
The Pilots face another test in #21 Rio Grande on Monday, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. on field two at the MOBA Soccer Complex. The Red Storm tied 3-3 with Lindsey Wilson on Saturday night in a tournament loaded with talent.
