MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Bethel University is excited to announce the appointment of Michael Shewmaker as the new Associate Head Coach for the Bethel Pilots Men's Basketball team. Shewmaker, who brings a wealth of experience and a strong track record of success, joins the Pilots after a three-year tenure as Head Coach at Bryant & Stratton College in Albany, New York.
During his time at Bryant & Stratton, Shewmaker led the Bobcats to two Final Four appearances in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division I in just three seasons. Under his leadership, the Bobcats also produced two First Team All-Americans and achieved an impressive overall record of 46-29, marking a 61% win rate.
Shewmaker, a native of New York who played high school basketball in the state, expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Bethel Pilots. "I want to thank Coach Drabyn and Athletic Director Tony Natali for the opportunity to work in such a storied athletic department," Shewmaker said. "I am excited to do my part in upholding the standard of men's basketball at BU and giving glory to God in all that we do. Go Pilots!"
Bethel University looks forward to the experience and passion Shewmaker will bring to the program as the Pilots prepare for the upcoming season.
