Bethel University names Alexandra Sturgill as new Competitive Cheer Head Coach

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Bethel University proudly announces the appointment of Alexandra Sturgill as the new head coach for the Bethel Pilots Competitive Cheer team. Sturgill brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to Bethel University, having served previously as an assistant coach and student athlete.

Sturgill, a Bethel University graduate of 2022 and a former cheerleader for four years, including three years on the Competitive team, has a strong background in Cheerleading. Her dedication to the sport is evident through her roles as Intermediate Cheerleading Coach for Elkhart Community Schools in 2022 and as Assistant Bethel University Cheerleading Coach during the 2023/2024 season.

"I am deeply honored to lead the Bethel University Cheer team as its new head coach," said Sturgill. "My experience as a student, athlete, and assistant coach at Bethel has been incredibly fulfilling. As a proud third-generation Bethel Cheer alum, I am blessed to contribute to the legacy of our team. My goal is to foster a Christ-centered environment where our athletes can use their talents to serve others."

Sturgill currently serves as a special education teacher at LaSalle Elementary in Mishawaka, IN, bringing her passion for education and Cheerleading into her new role with the Pilots.

"I am excited for the upcoming season and eager to see what God has in store for our team," Sturgill added. "Let's Go Pilots!"
