FORT WAYNE, Ind. --- The Bethel Pilots Softball team (8-41, 4-32) took on the Saint Francis Cougars (21-28, 14-22) Friday afternoon and fell 5-4 in game one and 11-7 in game two.
GAME 1
The Pilots opened the scoring for both teams in the third as Kate Cooper flied out to right field, but Morgan Blubaum made it home to go up 1-0.
Saint Francis batted in two runs in the bottom of the third, taking the lead at 2-1.
Bethel's big inning was in the top of the fourth when Alyssa Forys scored on a wild pitch. Right after, Harmony Looney flew out to left field, and Madison Shaw scored.
To finish their run, Meghan Younger singled to right, and Desiree Boone made it a 4-2 Pilot lead.
USF picked up another run in the fifth and two late in the bottom of the seventh to win the game 5-4.
Ryann Norris pitched seven innings with 12 hits, two strikeouts, and zero walks on 104 pitches.
GAME 2
The Pilots went up 3-0 against the Cougars, with two of them coming from Kate Cooper's double, which brought in Emily Kidwell and Blubaum.
USF retaliated with multiple runs and took a 5-3 lead heading into the fourth.
Bethel retook the lead in the sixth, as Younger grounded out, but Alyssa Forys made it home. Right after, Cooper doubled again, bringing in two more runs (7-6).
Saint Francis ended the game with five runs in the sixth to win the game 11-7.
Harmony Looney pitched seven innings with 12 hits, six walks, and four strikeouts on 144 pitches.
NEXT TIME OUT
The Pilots will be back in action next spring for the 2025 season.
