MARION, Ind. --- The Bethel Pilots took ninth of fifteen teams at the Little State Invitational, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan on Friday and Saturday.
Aaron Douglass finished fifth in the 10,000-meter run, with Alexavier Arce not far behind in sixth to score for the Pilots on the distance side.
Anthony Maxwell had a great meet with a 50.77-meter throw and a runner-up finish just shy of Trine's Ethan Spahr at 51.00 meters. Maxwell qualifies for the NCCAA National Championship on May 8-10 in Columbia, S.C.
The 4x100 relay team of Trevor Smith, Marcus Smith, Caleb McNeal, and Brennen Bargesser took third with a time of 43.92 and scored six points for the Pilots.
Bargesser took third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.52 and scored six points.
Jacob Kavicky threw a 49.16-meter mark and took fifth in the Hammer Throw, and Shane Glasco took second in a neck-and-neck battle with the Marian Knights' Gunner Kovach, who won from a tie-breaker at the 1.97m bar where Kovach cleared on the first attempt, while Glasco cleared it on his second.

The Pilots take on the Crossroads League Outdoor Championship on May 2-3 at Indiana Wesleyan in Marion, Ind., for the Pilots' final chance to qualify for the NCCAA and NAIA National Championships that also take place in May.
