MELBOURNE, Fla. --- On day one of the USSSA Space Coast Games, the Pilots lost both games to the Siena Heights Saints and the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils.
VS SIENA HEIGHTS
It was a pitcher's dual through the first four innings between Ryann Norris and the Saints' Shyann Truax. SHU struck first in the top of the fifth with a sacrifice fly to center field, followed by a fielder's choice to tack on the game's first two runs, 2-0.
In the sixth, the Saints hit another sacrifice fly to right, then a hit by pitch scored SHU's fourth run. With the Pilots back against the wall in the bottom of the seventh, Hannah Goldsboro drove in Alyssa Forys, and Meghan Younger singled to score Desiree Boone but fell short 4-2.
Ryann Norris (1-2) threw five innings in her third start of the season, allowing two hits, two runs (one earned), four walks, and seven strikeouts. Leeah Wade came in for relief in the sixth, threw the last two innings, and allowed two runs, two hits, and four walks.
VS LAWRENCE TECH
Harmony Looney threw three spotless innings, with the Pilots striking first on Madison Shaw's sacrifice fly to center, scored Morgan Blubaum in the top of the fourth, 2-1 BU. The Blue Devils answered with a two spot in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single and a fielder choice to second base.
Kate Cooper tied the game with an RBI single in the top of the fifth, but LTU walked it off on an RBI single to take the game 3-2.
Looney (0-3) threw a complete game (6.1 innings), allowing five hits, three runs, four walks, and two punchouts.
USSA SPACE COAST GAMES DAY 2
The Pilots take on Fisher College (Mass.) at the USSSA Pride Softball Complex at 12:15 p.m., then face Mount Marty University (S.D.) at 2:30 p.m.
