MOUNT VERNON, OH. --- The Bethel Pilots (6-15, 2-6) splits two Crossroads Leagues games vs. the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars (10-10, 3-5) Friday afternoon.
GAME 1
Mount Vernon found three runs off two hits and one error in the bottom of the 4th to have the game's first runs.
The Cougars grabbed another two runs off two hits and another error, which gave them a 5-0 lead over the Pilots.
Bethel could find no traction even after a hit from Morgan Blubaum in the 5th and hits from Kate Cooper and Maggie Robbins in the 6th.
MVNU added three more runs in the 6th and ended the match 8-0.
Ryann Norris pitched three innings, one strikeout, and one hit.
Harmony Looney pitched after Norris for 2.2 innings and had three walks and nine hits.
GAME 2
MVNU started quickly with four hits and three runs in the bottom of the 1st.
Alyssa Forys doubled to left in the top of the third, bringing Emily Kidwell home for the Pilots' first run of the day.
The game was quiet until Bethel scored three runs in the 5th, when Blubaum singled to bring in Desiree Boone. Later, Forys and Blubaum also made it home.
Harmony Looney pitched for seven innings with one strike-out, five walks, and 11 hits.
After MVNU found a run in the 6th, Bethel was able to capitalize off one hit and two errors from the Cougars to score three runs to lead by three.
MVNU scored once in the bottom of the 7th with two outs and people on base, but Bethel was able to get the third out before more damage occurred which led to a 7-5 Pilot victory.
NEXT TIME OUT
The Pilots will at home on March 23 to take on Indiana Wesleyan University with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
