ESPORTS starts Spring schedule strong

MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- The Bethel University Esports kicked off their season with Overwatch and went 3-0 in GLEC conference play.

Overwatch took down Manchester 3-0 on 1/20, Trine 3-0 on 1/27, and Anderson 3-0 on 2/3 in GLEC play.

Super Smash Bros. Beat St Xavier 2-0 on 1/24 and Mount Union 2-0 on 1/27 but lost to Manchester 2-0 on 2/3, all in GLEC play. Smash beat Buena Vista University 2-0 on 1/29 in ECAC play.

Super Smash Bros. JV beat West Virginia Tech 2-0 on 1/29 in ECAC play.

Rocket League Lost 3-0 to Mount Union on 1/23 but defeated IWU 3-0 on 1/27 in GLEC play.

Rocket League JV Beat Moravian University 4-3 on 1/31 in the ECAC.

Valorant Beat Siena College 2-0 on 1/30 in the ECAC.

Director of Esports Dan Wort said, "After taking the Fall season off, the Overwatch team has gotten off to a strong start in the Great Lakes Esports conference, going 3-0 in their first three matches. The roster has changed somewhat this year, adding Sophomore Valorant player Nate Kropiewnicki and Senior walk-on Micah Yoder."

"Smash team has also started strong this season, going 3-1 in their first three matches. They have a tough schedule in the GLEC, where five of the eight playoff teams from the fall are all in their division, including the defending champs, Manchester, who beat them on Saturday. The JV team opened ECAC divisional play with a 2-0 victory. Newcomer Brendan Trent played very well in his first collegiate match."

"Rocket League team started GLEC conference play 1-1, losing to Mount Union and getting a forfeit win over Indiana Wesleyan. They start NECC conference play this week. Our JV Rocket League team is made up of one varsity player and two JV players. They snagged a hard-fought 4-3 victory in the opening match of their ECAC season. After finishing runner-up in the ECAC Rivals division in the fall, their first season as a varsity squad, our Valorant team started off the Spring season strong with a 2-0 victory."
