Box Score POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. --- The Bethel Pilots (21-17) swept the Carolina Bruins (18-13) to advance to the NCCAA National Tournament Semi-Final on Friday after Columbia International won Pool A outright 3-0, and the Pilots took runner-up 2-1.
The Pilots took charge of the first set, getting to a 17-7 advantage, and rode their way to a 25-18 set victory.
A positive hitting percentage at .034 versus the Bruins -.121 clip aided in the set victory along with five blocks and three service aces.
The Bruins climbed out of a 7-4 Pilot lead to tie the second set 9-9, then 10-10 before hitting a 12-3 run to make the match 22-13. Bethel put away the set 25-15 and took a 2-0 set lead.
The third set tied 9-9, then hit a 4-0 run before the Bruins got within one point, 13-12. Bethel stormed to a 25-18 set victory and completed the sweep to advance to the bracket play in the NCCAA National Tournament.
The Pilots will play the Jessup Warriors on Friday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. at the College of the Ozarks for the NCCAA National Tournament Semi-Final.
