INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The #13 Bethel Pilots (12-5-2) hit the road to Indianapolis as the fifth-seed, taking on the fourth-seeded (RV) Marian Knights (13-3-3) for the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinal and lost 3-2 after losing a 2-0 lead in the second half.
Andres Lucumi broke the 0-0 tie in the 31st minute from a double-assist by Piero Sabroso (1) and Jona Toussaint (4) with Lucumi's first goal this season and went into the first half up 1-0.
It only took six minutes into the second half for Manuel Garcia to net his sixth goal this season and grow the lead to 2-0.
The Knights answered in the 58th minute with a goal by Sebastian Gonzalez to break the clean sheet 2-1, and MU had another opportunity in the 62nd minute that missed wide.
Marian lined up for a corner in the 80th minute and found Samuel Wehaus to tie the game 2-2. Then, after a high miss in the 84th minute, Josh Wesseling hit the dagger to win 3-2 in the 86th minute.
With an opportunity to tie and go to overtime, Manuel Garcia was blocked with seconds to go, and the Pilots fate was sealed.
