Box Score MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- The #16 ranked Women's Volleyball team (12-0, 1-0) escaped a close call vs. RV Taylor University (6-3, 0-1), which went to a five-set thriller in Gates Gymnasium.
The Pilots took control early in the first set as they had an 11-point lead late in the first set. Isabelle Greene and Maddy Payne had multiple kills to help grab their first-set win (25-15).
They continued their offensive run with another set win (25-22), which put the Pilots up 2-0 in the contest.
The Trojans fought back as they found some rhythm in the third set and rallied together to prevent being swept (25-16). The Trojans had multiple-point runs in the set, and the Pilots couldn't adjust quickly enough to rally back.
The fourth set felt the same when Taylor kept the pressure on the Pilots and forced Bethel into several errors. The Trojans got another set win (25-23), which tied the match up 2-2.
The final set was thrilling as each team fought till the last point, as it looked like each team had the upper hand near the end. After an attack error on Taylor, Bethel finished the game with a kill from Maddy Payne, assisted by Haley Biedenbach, to keep the Pilots' undefeated season alive.
