FORT WAYNE, Ind. --- The Robert Frost era begins with the Bethel Pilots (2-0) sweeping the Rochester Warriors (0-4) and the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils to win six straight sets to start the season.
VS ROCHESTER
The Pilots got off to a quick start, with senior Cheyanne Seymour finishing the first set with five kills and four digs, with senior Maddy Payne not far behind with four kills and four digs.
The first set began with a quick 4-0 run which was almost erased at 7-6 when an attack error by the Warriors and a kill by Maddy Payne sparked the Pilots' offense again. Bethel won the first set 25-16.
Set two started with a 5-0 run, a consistent lead, with the Warriors creeping up to within 5 points at 12-7 before racking up as high as a 10-point lead, taking set two 25-13.
Rochester took their first lead in the third set at 7-6 and 8-7, but the Pilots kept their opponent to 11 points by going on a 5-0 run to put the match away and complete the 3-0 sweep.
The top performers were Cheyanne Seymour with 12 kills, eight digs, and one ace; Maddy Payne with 10 kills, four block assists, and four digs; Isabelle Greene 10 kills, five block assists, and no attack errors.
VS LAWRENCE TECH
It was a back-and-forth affair with the Blue Devils out of the gate with neither side taking a commanding lead, but Cheyanne Seymour and Michaela Whitaker hit back-to-back kills to put away set one 25-21.
The second set looked the same, but the Pilots took a 5-0 run and raced to a 20-13 lead before putting the Blue Devils away 25-19.
Cheyanne Seymour had another impressive outing with 12 kills, and Michaela Whitaker swung 12 kills of her own. Whitaker was one dig away, and Seymour was two digs away from having double digits in kills and digs.
Isabelle Greene also had 10 kills for the second straight match and five blocks to end the day strong.

The Pilots continue into day two of the Onset Invitational hosted by Saint Francis (Ind.), taking on West Virginia Tech for the first time in program history at 1:15 p.m. and the University of Northwestern Ohio at 5:30 p.m.
Bethel is currently 1-4 against the Racers since their first matchup in 2009, where the Pilots were swept on Sept. 11.
