Box Score 2 Mount Vernon, Ohio --- The Bethel Pilots Softball team (5-35, 4-26) fell to the RV Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars (30-11, 22-10) 8-0 and 9-0 on the road on Saturday.
GAME 1
The Cougars put up five runs in the bottom of the first inning on four RBI singles, an RBI double, and an error to take an early 5-0 lead.
Mount Vernon Nazarene put up two more runs in the bottom of the third with a solo home run and an RBI single; the Cougars added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth on a two-RBI single that sealed the game-one victory 9-0.
Hannah Frady threw a complete game, allowed 11 hits and nine runs, and walked one batter.
GAME 2
It was a silent first inning for both sides in the nightcap, but the Cougars hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the second to get on the board.
In the bottom of the third, MVNU plated another run on an RBI single and put up two more in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double, and a sacrifice fly to center field, which grew the lead to 5-0.
The bottom of the sixth was another big inning with three runs scored, starting with three RBI singles to complete the doubleheader sweep 8-0.
