Box Score 2 Mishawaka, Ind. --- Spring Arbor University (21-16, 14-16) took both the third and fourth game vs. the Bethel Pilots (17-27, 10-22) on Senior Day.
GAME 1
Spring Arbor scored three runs by the fourth, and that's when the Pilots started to generate some offense.
After Jordan Landkrohn was walked and stole second, Andrew Miranda had a single RBI to bring in Landkrohn to get the Pilots on the board.
Bethel had a solid eighth inning as Dominic Deisler grounded out but brought Eli MacDonald in for a run. Soon after, Alex Stout had a double, setting Cooper Tolson up for a single and getting Stout home.
The Pilots earned one final run to cut the lead to one with a Macdonald single RBI to bring in Jeremy Wiersema, but a fly out to the center field for the next batter ended the game 5-4.
Ty Mickiewic pitched six innings vs. the Cougars and gave up eight hits, four runs, one strikeout, and one home runs on 87 pitches.
GAME 2
Like game one, Spring Arbor grabbed an early lead, scoring four times in the first inning. The Pilots gained one run in the bottom of the first from a MacDonald RBI single to bring in Wiersema.
Andrew Miranda had two RBIs in game two because of a home run in the bottom of the second that brought in Silas Kaser.
Corbin Greenslad doubled in the bottom of the fourth, and two batters later, Landkrohn doubled, which brought in pinch-runner Nicholas Cox (5-4 SAU).
The bottom of the sixth is when the Cougars took a more prominent lead, scoring three times due to multiple walks and two hits in the inning.
Jeremy Wiersema had a legendary last at-bat on Patterson Field as he hit a three RBI home run late in the seventh, bringing in Miranda and Kaser. As the game soon came to an end as the Cougars won 11-7.
Andrew Gerber threw for five innings with seven hits on six runs and five strikeouts on 82 pitches.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- Jeremy Wiersema is now first in the NAIA with 41 steals.
- Wiersema and Miranda had five RBIs in game two, with a home run for each Pilot.
NEXT TIME OUT
The Pilots will travel to Winona Lake to close out their regular season schedule with four games vs. the Lancers, with games one and two on April 28th starting at 1:00 p.m.
