Softball wins three games in a row after Taylor doubleheader sweep

MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- The Bethel Pilots Softball team (4-26, 3-17) swept the Taylor Trojans (16-18, 8-12) and are now on a three-game win streak.

GAME 1

The Pilots got on the board early in the bottom of the first with a two-RBI single to center field, which scored Emmie Pugh and Alyssa Forys.


With the 2-0 lead, Cooper slapped an RBI double to center field, which scored Allison Snyder, then Lita Sills punched an RBI single to right field and scored the Pilots' fourth run of the game.


Taylor answered in the top of the fourth and the fifth but fell short of the comeback to give the Pilots their second win in a row.


Hannah Frady pitched a phenomenal complete game, only allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits, one walk, and three strikeouts.

GAME 2

Taylor struck first in the nightcap in the top of the third inning with a double steal where Meghan Younger caught the runner stealing second, but the Trojan's Madisyn Standridge scored on the throw.


Mackenzie Navarrete forced an error at first, which scored her sister Marissa Navarrete to tie the game.


One inning later, Kate Cooper singled through the left side to score the winning run 2-1.


Ryann Norris threw a complete game on six hits, one run, no walks, and four punchouts.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

  • Between Frady and Norris, they threw only one walk and seven strikeouts.
  • Kate Cooper went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs between both games.

THE PILOTS HIT THE ROAD

Bethel travels to Grace College on Saturday, Apr. 15, for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. before playing eight games next week.
