Fort Wayne, Ind. --- The Bethel Pilots fall to 12-12, 5-7 on the season after the Saint Francis (Ind.) Cougars completed the series sweep with 12-4 and 10-4 victories at the Ash Centre World Baseball Academy on Monday for a weather rescheduling.
GAME 1
It was pandemonium early with an Eli Macdonald RBI single that scored Jeremy Wiersema in the top of the first, but Saint Francis barked back with three runs in the bottom of the frame.
Andrew Miranda cleared the bases on a three-RBI double, scoring three unearned runs, and re-took the lead 4-3. The Cougars tacked on three more runs on a three-run home run in the bottom of the second and took a two-run lead of 6-4.
Saint Francis would plate six more runs to take game one of the doubleheader 12-4.
Ty Mickiewicz was awarded the loss after four innings pitched, 12 hits allowed on six earned runs, one walk, and two strikeouts. Miranda went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, a double, a single, and a walk.
GAME 2
The Pilots were quiet in game two, with the Cougars taking a walked-in run in the first and slapping an RBI single before putting up a four-run fourth inning and another in the fifth.
Down 8-0, Alex Stout put the Pilots on the board with an RBI single, Corbin Greenslade plated a second run on an RBI single, and Jordan.
Landkrohn smacked a two-run triple in the top of the seventh before falling 10-4
Landkrohn had two hits, two RBIs, and hit by a pitch to go a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate. Andrew Gerber was given the loss after going 2.1 innings, allowing six hits on six runs, five walks, and striking out four.
NEXT TIME OUT
Bethel begins a four-game home stretch against Huntington University and is tied for first in the Crossroads League standings tied with RV Taylor at 10-2.
