Box Score Upland, Ind. --- The Bethel Men's Basketball team (17-10, 9-8) came up with a big Crossroads League win Saturday afternoon, dropping Taylor University (13-14, 7-10) 77-49.
It was a tight match-up early in the first half as neither team could gain more than a two-possession lead until
Tanguy Touze hit a jump shot at 9:28, sparking a 25-4 run over the final 9 minutes to give the Pilots an 18-point cushion at the break, 39-21.
The Trojans managed to cut the lead to 17 points at the 17:00 minute mark, 45-28, but would get no closer the rest of the way as Bethel raced away for the 28-point win. Neither team shot the ball well with Bethel just shooting 41% from the field, while Taylor struggled mightily, connecting on just 18 of 62 shots (29%).
Four Pilots had over 10 points, including
Drew Lutz (22),
Nathan Aerts (13),
Tanguy Touze (12), and
Alonas Peciulis (11).
Brandon Hunt controlled the boards with 10 rebounds.
