Box Score Indianapolis, Ind. --- The Bethel University Women's Basketball squad (6-17) battled against a tough #6 Marian University (22-2) and could not create the upset on the road with a 62-42 loss Wednesday night.
The Pilots played catch up right from the start, as they found themselves down nine (14-5) with 2:55 to play in the first quarter.
Maiah Shelton took led the Pilot charge hitting a jump shot and knocking down two free throws in that period.
Mariah Claywell had a solid second quarter with two jump shots and one shot from the charity stripe but the Pilots only managed 7 points in the second quarter and found themselves down 35-16 at the break.
The second half didn't fare any better as Bethel continued to struggle offensively and never posed any threat to the Marian lead, despite the Pilots outscoring the Knights 18-10 in the final stanza.
Ellia Foster led the Pilots in scoring with 11 points and
Mariah Claywell was not far behind with eight points to go along with three rebounds.
Alaysia Stewart and
Maiah Shelton each added six points each on the night.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- The Pilots bench outscored the Knights bench 23-17.
- Bethel shot 29.8% (14-47) from the field and 66.7% (8-12) from the charity stripe.
