GOSHEN, Ind. --- The Bethel University Women's Basketball team (2-4, 0-1) came up short 74-70 vs. Goshen College (6-2, 1-0) in the US Highway 20 Cup Saturday afternoon.
Bethel started slow in the first quarter, as they only grabbed 11 points. Nyla Asad began the offense with a two-point shot at 8:02 left in the first, followed by Maiah Shelton's two-pointer and Alaysia Stewart's three-pointer.
Kallie Harrison kicked off the second quarter with a three-pointer at 7:28, bringing the Leafs lead down to seven.
In the third quarter, the Pilots started to break down the lead with a three-pointer from Faith Davis and shots from Asad and Shelton to bring the advantage to one (40-39). The quarter ended with a three-pointer from Shayla Alexander at 0:32 (48-47), but Goshen made two free throws to go 49-47 into the fourth.
Goshen went on a fast eight-point run, which disadvantaged Bethel, but they stayed close. With more clutch shots from Asad and Davis with three minutes to play, Bethel went on a run at the end of the match to take the lead.
Bethel was down by one with a shot from Asad (71-70), but Shelton missed on the next possession, which helped Goshen get the ball and make two more free throws to end the game.

- The Pilots outrebounded the Leafs by one (35-34).
