KOKOMO, Ind. --- The Bethel University Women's Basketball team (2-5, 0-1) played Indiana University Kokomo (3-2, 0-0) Tuesday night but fell 70-50 at the final buzzer.
Bethel had an early lead in the first quarter as Maiah Shelton and Nyla Asad each made a bucket. A three-pointer from Shelton put the Pilots up 7-2.
The second quarter was controlled by Kokomo, but Asad and Mariah Claywell hit their shots to keep the game close as the Pilots were down by a slight margin of five at the half (30-25).
Abby Williams made a layup at 6:56 left in the third to retake the lead 33-32. Kokomo hit a three with seven seconds to go in the quarter, which gave them a 43-42 over the Pilots.
Kokomo capitalized off Bethel's turnovers and put the Pilots down by 13 with three minutes to play. After Kokomo made their free throws, the Cougars sealed the victory 70-50.
Nyla Asad led the Pilots with 10 points and with eight rebounds.
Abby Williams had four points, one block, and five rebounds.
