MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- The #20 Women's Volleyball team (21-3, 9-3) defeated Roosevelt University (7-12, 3-6) in straight sets Saturday afternoon in Gates.
The Pilots and Lakers started with a couple of short 3-point runs and found themselves in a tie game at 9-9. A couple of points later, the Pilots went on a seven-point run after being down 13-11. At 21-19, the Pilots finalized the first set with a four-point run, including a Rachel Vendl ace to go up 1-0 in the match.
Roosevelt started the second set with a 4-1 run, but that was overpowered quickly with a 10-1 run by Bethel. Bethel had an eight-point lead, but the Lakers refused to quit. They went on a 7-2 run but didn't have enough time to match Bethel's offense as a kill from Cheyanne Seymour gave the Pilots a 25-20 second set win.
The Pilots dominated the third set as Maddy Payne, Michaela Whitaker, and Seymour all had multiple kills. The Pilots kept the pressure up and finished the game with a 25-17 victory to give them a 3-0 win over the Lakers.
