MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- The NAIA 10th ranked Bethel Men's Soccer (9-2-3, 3-0-2) competed in a top 20 matchup vs. #18 Indiana Wesleyan University (10-1-3, 2-0-3) which ended in a 1-1 tie.
The battle on the field was back and forth for 90 minutes. The first half consisted of 16 fouls combined and 16 shots. An action-packed first half was left 0-0 when it ended.
The second half had 18 fouls, five yellow cards, and 14 shots. Thiago dos Santos crossed the ball in from the right side to the head of Julio Vargas, who put it bottom left just past the keeper's reach to give the Pilots a 1-0 lead.
With time expiring, Indiana Wesleyan had continuous pressure on the Pilots desperately trying to get the equalizer. In the 89th minute, IWU found the back of the net to keep from losing against the Pilots.
Redshirt Freshman keeper Mathis Neuhaus played an exceptional match in net with seven saves, including many acrobatic saves to keep the game knotted up at zero in the first half.

The Pilots will travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to take on the Marian University Knights on Oct. 14th at 2:00 p.m. The Pilots currently sit in second place in the Crossroads League standings under the Grace Lancers going into the match with the Knights, who are tied for fourth with Spring Arbor.
