Mishawaka, Ind. --- The Bethel University Women's basketball team (4-12) battled for forty minutes before falling short at the end, losing to the Huntington Foresters (7-10) 75-66.
The Pilots started the afternoon strong with a 13-2 run as freshman
Mariah Claywell and sophomore
Maiah Shelton traded buckets. The lead would be trimmed to two-points by the end of the first quarter (18-16) with a couple of costly turnovers which aided the Forester come back.
Huntington would re-gain a one-point lead with a three-pointer at 5:30 in the second quarter, but the Pilots would go on another run with Claywell sinking a jumper to put the Pilots up by four at 2:16. Bethel took a 29-28 lead into the intermission.
In the third quarter,
Abby Williams grew the lead to 39-31 with a layup at 4:29, but the Foresters tied the game up after drawing two fouls and gained four points at the line in the last couple of minutes in the quarter to leave the teams knotted at 40-40 at the end of the 3
rd quarter.
Huntington responded in a big way in the final quarter, outscoring the Pilots 30-21 in the final stanza to pull out their 2
nd Crossroads League win of the year.
Despite the loss, Claywell set multiple career highs with 22 points, five assists, nine field goals made, and five assists.
Maiah Shelton added 13 points and
Katie Kinker 10 for the Pilots, who dropped their seventh straight league contest.

- The Pilots outrebounded Huntington 39-37, creating 11 second chance points from 10 offensive rebounds.
- Mariah Claywell, Maiah Shelton and Katie Kinker combined for 45 of the Pilots' 66 points.
- Shelton set a season high of four steals.
