Mount Vernon, Ohio --- A balanced attack helped the Bethel Pilots take down the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars 3-1 in Saturday night's opening round of the Crossroads League Tournament.
Senior
Isabelle North-Greene and junior
Maddy Payne had a stellar night collecting 11 kills each and had a hitting percentage above .300.
Junior
Jackelin Fernandez led the defensive effort with 16 of the total 57 Pilot digs, while sophomore
Paige Hickey was not too far behind Fernandez with 11 digs of her own.
Fifth-year senior
Madyson Beaver continued her spectacular season with 23 assists, while freshman
Elise Schildermans added 17 assists in support.
Bethel controlled the first set 25-18 before the disappointing loss to the Cougars in the second set 25-23. It didn't get easier for the Pilots; they won out sets three and four by five and three points respectively.
Bethel advances to the semi-finals of the Crossroads League Tournament where they will take on the NAIA 11
th ranked Taylor Trojans.
