Joliet, Ill. --- The Bethel University women's basketball team traveled to the University of St. Francis Monday night and once again, frigid shooting and a multitude of turnovers were the Pilots' demise as they fell to the Saints 78-45.
The Pilots fell behind early, putting just 10 points on the board in the first quarter and trailing by 16 at the intermission, 38-22. Things did not improve in the second half as USF continued to pressure Bethel, holding them to 8 points in the third quarter. For the game, the Pilots shot just 27% from the floor (13/48) and coughed up the pumpkin a whopping 28 times.
Sophomore Maiah Shelton, playing in her first game since Nov. 1 against Governor's State, led the way for Bethel with 14 points, while freshman Ellia Foster was the only other player to score in double digits with 11.
With the loss, the Pilots fall to 4-3 on the season. The Bethel ladies will look to bounce back when they host IU-Northwest Wednesday night, November 16 at the Wiekamp Center.
