Student-Worker / Intern of the Year

Awarded to the athletic department intern or student-worker who has shown a commitment to the stewardship and betterment of Bethel Athletics, as voted by Bethel's athletic administration.

Ben Wilt, Athletic Operations Intern

Wilt was an intern for athletic administration and assisted in all aspects of game and facility management and athletic operations all season long.

Ron Paulsen Memorial Grants

Awarded to the top male and female athletes who show a commitment to the four core values of Bethel Athletics of spiritual formation, athletic development, servant leadership, and academic excellence, as voted by Bethel's athletic coaching staff. Named after late student-athlete Ron Paulsen ('71).
dos Santos

Willian dos Santos, Men's Soccer

Coach Pinto says of dos Santos: "Willian is an excellent soccer player, a bright student, and a servant leader. Willian's leadership has been very key in helping the team to be successful and in helping foster a discipleship culture within the team. He has an outstanding work ethic, takes direction well, and is extremely responsible as he manages to balance schoolwork, playing collegiate soccer, and serving as a college ministry leader as well."

Mott

Emma Mott, Women's Cross Country

Coach Sommers says of Mott, "Emma is a young woman with the highest of character. She is a pleasure to coach because you never have to question her effort, heart, or motivation. In addition, she maintains a proper perspective on training and competition. Emma is very talented but prefers that the team receives recognition rather than herself. She is a leader in both words and action. Emma is a tremendous teammate who loves building and investing in relationships. God has given Emma many gifts and she enjoys honoring Him with them. She is the epitome of a Bethel Pilot athlete."

Dave Slater University Spirit Award

Awarded to the top male and female athletes who show a commitment to go above and beyond to support the Bethel University community, as voted by Bethel's Student-Athlete Leadership Team. Named in honor of late Bethel legend Dave Slater.

Grace Beck, Women's Soccer

Coach Freeman says of Beck, “Grace brings a lot of positive energy to the program. It has been rewarding to watch her mature on and off the field, and I am sure her best days are still ahead. She has the ability to impact a great team with a great culture as she continues to grow as a leader.”

Halle Shipp, Women's Basketball

Coach Auker says of Shipp, “Halle is a servant leader, that takes pride in showing her support to her teammates in any way she can. She brings a great attitude to practice and works extremely hard to perform the role she is assigned by the coaching staff, day in and day out. The ultimate team player that is going to have tremendous success in the future after college!”

Plays of the Year

Awarded to the best and most exciting male and female highlights across the department this year, as voted by Bethel's Sports Information Department.


Jared DeHart, Men's Basketball

DeHart nailed a fall-away go-ahead three-pointer in the final 30 seconds of a tie game against top-seeded Providence of the NAIA Opening Round Omaha Bracket to give the Pilots the victory and send them to the Round of 16 in Kansas City for the first time in NAIA single division history.

Isabelle North, Women's Volleyball

North staved off elimination in the fifth set of the NCCAA National Championship match on three-straight match points by Northwestern with kills to end each rally. The Pilots would go on to win the set 19-17 and deliver the program's second national championship, while North was named the Tournament MVP.

Breakthrough Athletes of the Year

Awarded to the most improved male and female athletes of the year, as voted by Bethel's Student-Athlete Leadership Team.

Nathan Aerts, Men's Basketball

Last year, Aerts averaged 7.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while shooting 48-percent from the field and made 13 starts in 33 games. This year, Aerts averaged 14.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 50.2-percent from the field and made 31 starts in 32 games, earning All-Crossroads League Honorable Mention.

Cooper

Megan Cooper, Women's Cross Country

Last year, Cooper ran in the top seven of the team in five of eight races and recorded a PR of 21:01.0. This year, Cooper ran in the top three of the team in all seven races and recorded a PR of 19:47.4, finishing the season as an NCCAA All-American in tenth place.

Rookies of the Year

Awarded to the best male and female athletes in their first year at Bethel, as voted by Bethel's Student-Athlete Leadership Team.

Caleb Berrong, Men's Swim & Dive

Berrong set ten program records and ranked in the top 20 of the NAIA in five events during the season, earning the program’s first NAIA All-American honors.

Maddy Payne, Women's Volleyball

Payne finished the season with 318 kills and led the NAIA with 167 blocks, earning First Team All-Crossroads League and All-Freshman Team honors.

Players of the Year

Awarded to the top male and female student-athletes of the year, as voted by Bethel's Student-Athlete Leadership Team.
Jackson

Thomas Jackson, Men's Track & Field

Jackson was crowned the NAIA Indoor Long Jump national champion and was named the Crossroads League Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, the Great Lakes Region Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, and the USATF March Indiana Field Athlete of the Month. He won Indoor Crossroads League titles in the Long Jump and Triple Jump.

Emma Mott, Women's Cross Country / Track & Field

Mott was crowned the NAIA Outdoor 800m national champion as well as the NCCA Cross Country individual champion. She recorded four NAIA All-American performances on the year and was named the Great Lakes Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and the Crossroads League Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. She holds the top 12 times in cross country program history and four indoor track program records.
