Baseball ends IWU series with two losses in games three and four

MARION, Ind. ---The Bethel Pilots (6-10, 1-7) dropped games three and four and were swept by the Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats (10-5, 6-2) at the Wildcat Baseball Field on Saturday. 

Corbin Greenslade smacked his first solo homer of his senior season in the top of the seventh in game one. 

Jacob Sitterly hit his first homer of 2025 to left field in the top of the second of game two, bringing in teammate Luke Mast for two RBIs. 

GAME THREE

The Pilots and the Wildcats opened up the first game of the day with a scoring slump for the first six innings. 

Bethel secured the lead in the top of the seventh with Corbin Greenslade's homer 

(1-0). 

Dylan Cook walked following the home run and advanced to second after Hudson Francis reached on a walk. 

Cook was left stranded after Adam Walters grounded out. 

The Wildcats caught up in the bottom of the eighth with a solo shot sent to right center. (1-1), and overtook the Pilots in the bottom of the ninth with one final homer. 

Bethel surrendered the first game of the day and the third game of the series 2-1. 

Andrew Gerber threw 110 pitches within eight innings. 

Lucas Nowacki threw a total of five pitches. 

GAME FOUR

The Pilots recorded the most runs against the Wildcats this season in the second game on Saturday.

The Wildcats put the pressure on Bethel in the bottom of the first, with seven runs on the board to kick off the game. 

Bethel's batting reignited in the top of the second, with Corbin Greenslade reaching with a single to left field. 

Luke Mast entered the action to pitch a run for Greenslade. 

Jacob Sitterly homered to left field as the Bethel trailed 7-2. 

In the bottom of the second, Elijah Gaines posted the first out for the Pilots with a clutch ground out at short.

Indiana Wesleyan recorded two additional hits in the bottom of the second (9-2). 

The Wildcats continued to challenge Bethel with heavy hitting in the bottom of the fourth, as one homer increased their lead 12-2 over the Pilots. 

In the top of the seventh, Drew Deming, Logan Bevier, and Adam Walters were walked back-to-back by the Wildcats. 

As Bethel had the bases loaded, an error by Indiana Wesleyan's pitcher sent Elijah Gaines to first and brought Drew Deming home (14-3). 

Jesse Stout singled to center to bring in both Walters and Bevier, concluding the game 15-5. 

Adam Walters threw a total of 64 pitches throughout the 3.1 innings that he was on the mound. 

Peter Wallsmith pitched 1.2 innings with a total of 43 pitches. 

Luke Mast threw 12 pitches within one inning. 

NEXT TIME OUT

The Pilots will next compete against the Goshen College Maple Leafs on Mar. 14 at Jenkins Stadium. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
