SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Bethel University men's volleyball faced a tough challenge against an undefeated Lawrence. The Pilots fell in straight sets (19-25, 18-25, 15-25) in WHAC Conference play.
The Pilots fought hard but struggled to find their rhythm against the undefeated Blue Devils (9-0, 4-0). Bethel (9-8, 4-3) started strong in the first set, keeping the score close early. Thomas Dunkley paced the offense with eight kills and three service aces. However, Bethel struggled to maintain consistency, hitting just .058 as a team compared to Lawrence Tech's .323.
Setter Pedro Aguiar played a key role with 21 assists, while McGwire Eigenrauch contributed two kills, nine assists, and a block assist. On defense, Santana Roybal-Benson and Ben Ritzema led with multiple digs, while Pablo Tello and Christian Woumnga added valuable contributions at the net.
Despite their efforts, Bethel couldn't slow down Lawrence Tech's offensive efficiency, led by Nestor Addah's 11 kills and Mario Cid's six kills on a .667 hitting percentage. The Blue Devils' strong blocking and serving pressure made it difficult for the Pilots to find their rhythm.
Bethel will look to regroup as they prepare for another WHAC game on Friday, March 14, against Mount Vernon Nazarene University at 7 pm, in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
