LIMA, Ohio – The Bethel University Men's Tennis team faced a tough challenge against No. 5 University of Northwestern Ohio on Tuesday, losing 7-0.
UNOH dominated in both doubles and singles. In doubles, Bethel's teams struggled, with
Santiago Flores and
Bernat Coll Ballester falling 1-6,
Garrison Miller and
Victor Otin losing 3-6, and
Isaac Copeland and
Sergio Orradre Escudero dropping their match 1-6.
In singles,
Victor Otin put up the closest fight but lost 5-7, 4-6. The rest of the team fell in straight sets, with UNOH controlling the matches.
"This was a tough match for our guys," said head coach Jamal Henry. "UNOH is a dynamite program year in and year out, and today was no different. I can see why they are national title contenders. The effort was there today for our guys. We've got to do a better job of getting other teams to play our game and execute at a higher level more consistently."
The Pilots will look to bounce back in their next match on Saturday, March 15, when they travel to Alma, Michigan, to take on Alma College at noon.
