Baseball falls to Trinity Baptist College 8-7 following ten-inning battle

AUBURNDALE, Fla. ---The Bethel Pilots (6-5, 1-3) fell to the Trinity Baptist Eagles (12-7, 5-1) 8-7 on Saturday at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex. 
 
In the top of the third inning, the Eagles took the lead 4-0 with four hits. The first batter from Trinity reached first after being hit by a pitch by Dillehay. 
 
The next batter singled to shortstop and then proceeded to steal second base. The Eagles now had runners on second and third. 
 
The third batter singled to left field, bringing in one runner as he made it to second base safely. Dillehay hit another batter with a pitch as the bases were loaded. 
 
The fourth batter flew out to center field, and the fifth struck out swinging. Bethel now had two outs, and the bases loaded. 
 
The Eagles pushed the Pilots with aggressive baserunning, with the runners at first and second, each stealing a base. Trinity scored on a balk by Dillehay, as the runner at third was brought in. 
 
Finally, the last three batters from Trinity singled to left field, right field, and flew out to right field, respectively. The Eagles ended the top of the third up 4-0. 
 
In the bottom of the third, Adam Walters reached first on a walk after Hudson Francis grounded out to the shortstop. Walters stole second to position himself to score. 
 
Jesse Stout singled to center field to bring in Walters, the first run of the game for Bethel (4-1). Stout advanced to second on the throw. 
 
Jordan Landkrohn struck out swinging, and Jacob Sitterly struck out looking to end the bottom of the third. 
 
In the top of the fourth, James Paden took the mound for Bethel. Paden gave up one hit and zero runs. 

Elijah Gaines got the last out of the inning. 
 
In the bottom of the fifth, Hudson Francis reached first on an error by Trinity's third baseman. 
 
Adam Walters singled to left field, putting Francis in scoring position. Bethel had the bases loaded with two outs after Jordan Landkrohn was walked. 
 
Jacob Sitterly popped up to the second baseman, ending the inning. Bethel concluded the fifth down 4-1. 
 
Bethel put pressure on Trinity in the bottom of the sixth with five runs scored on five hits, taking the lead 6-4. 
 
Corbin Greenslade kicked off the inning with a single to center. Logan Bevier entered the game to pitch run for him. Elijah Gaines then singled to center as Bevier reached second. 
 
Lucas Thorn then recorded two RBIs following his single to center field. Bethel now trailed by one, 4-3. Thorn reached second on a single by Drew Deming
 
Adam Walters brought in both Thorn and Deming with a double to right field as Bethel claimed the lead 5-4. Walters scored the final run of the inning on a passed ball by Trinity's catcher. Bethel concluded the sixth up 6-4.
 
The Eagles tied the score 6-6 in the top of the eighth inning from a groundout to short that scored a man from third and an RBI single to center.
 
Freshman Drew Deming hit his first career triple in the bottom of the eighth to right field.
 
Deming was left stranded on third following two strikeouts and a fly out to right field. 
 
In the top of the ninth, the Eagles scored one run following a sacrifice fly and aggressive base running. 
 
Drew Deming got the final out for the Pilots as Trinity led 7-6. 
 
In the bottom of the ninth, Jordan Landkrohn re-tied the score 7-7 by being hit by a pitch. 
 
Landkrohn stole second and advanced to third following Jacob Sitterly's ground out to shortstop. Landkrohn scored after Trinity's shortstop made an error, while Elijah Gaines reached first, but the game went to extra innings.
 
In the top of the tenth, the Eagles scored one run to reclaim the lead and the game, 8-7. 
 
Tim Dillehay pitched three innings, striking out two batters. 
 
James Paden pitched seven innings, striking out five batters. Paden gave up seven hits as compared to Dillehay's seven. 
 
The Pilots play their final game of the RussMatt Invitational with the University of Fort Lauderdale Eagles at Northeast Regional Park on Monday, March 3. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
