SOUTH BEND, Ind. --- With the weather moving the match to the Indiana Invaders Soccer Complex, the Bethel Pilots (6-2-1, 0-1-0) dropped their Crossroads League opener against the NAIA sixth-ranked Spring Arbor Cougars (6-2-0, 1-0-0) by a score of 4-0 after holding the Cougars scoreless in the first half.
Bethel's only shot of the match came in the 13th minute by
Annalise Jung that was saved by Spring Arbor's Reagan Kohler but the Cougars put up only four early in the half to go into halftime tied 0-0.
The Cougars struck in the 51st minute by Kaylee Beekel and about a minute later Annika Arsenault netted SAU's second goal. In the 70th minute, Malina Marshall scored the third goal from Regan Ramirez and Spring Arbor capped off their scoring run in the 86th minute with Maislin Joldersma's goal also assisted by Ramirez.
The Pilots continue Crossroads League play with the Huntington Foresters in Huntington, Ind. on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m.
