MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — The Bethel Pilots Women's Tennis team improved to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in Crossroads League play with a decisive sweep of the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars (0-6, 0-6) on Tuesday. The match, originally scheduled outdoors, was moved indoors to the Aspen Racquet Club due to weather conditions.
In doubles action, the Pilots dominated, winning all three matches. Szilvi Ferenczy and Carla Montaruli defeated the Cougars' Cochran and Winey 6-0. Farida El Sayed and Ariadni Kokoula followed suit with a 6-1 victory over Bresson and Greer, while Sandy Sharaf and Kenzy Abdelaal completed the doubles sweep with a 6-0 win against Bell and Reyes.
The Pilots continued their strong performance in singles play. Kokoula edged Cochran 7-6 (8), 6-1 in the top singles match. Montaruli showcased her skills with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Bresson in the second singles spot. Abdelaal and Sharaf both secured 6-1, 6-0 wins against Winey and Greer, respectively. El Sayed defeated Bell 6-4, 6-0, and Elyse Yoder capped off the match with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win over Reyes.
The Pilots will face the Marian Knights on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. at Ward Baker Park, vying for the Crossroads League Regular Season title. The Knights are also undefeated (7-0, 7-0) this season and are ranked 16th in the latest NAIA Coaches Poll for Women's Tennis.
