SOUTHFIELD, Mich. --- The WHAC semifinal was a big game in more ways besides the last step until the tournament championship, but the Bethel Pilots ( had to face the NAIA third-ranked Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (13-1, 8-0) are yet to beat in their program's history.
The Blue Devils demonstrated their prowess with a 5-1 run in the first quarter, with Lydia Andrews breaking the dry spell with the help of Brea Larrison's assist at 5:39. Larrison and Serenity Kretschmer scored back-to-back goals at 10:28 and 9:55 to cut the deficit to 6-4, but the Blue Devils' dominance was evident.
Lawrence Tech answered with nine consecutive unanswered goals to soar to a 14-4 lead at 1:18 in the third quarter. Isabell Gerbrand scored the Pilots' fifth goal unassisted at 14:19 in the fourth, and Jenna Crockett followed with a goal at 13:13 to make it 14-6.
With the final minutes winding down, Lydia Andrews scored the seventh Pilot goal at 7:36, and Brea Larrison scored the last goal of the game at 6:26 to finish the game with a 15-8 loss.
