MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- In a loud and exciting atmosphere in the Goodman Gymnasium, the Bethel Pilots (6-9, 1-7) secured their first WHAC win over the Aquinas Saints (2-14, 0-9) in a 3-1 match.
Marcos Henrike put up 16 kills on a .500 hitting percentage and 16.5 points for the Pilots. Sebastian Rodriguez secured 21 digs for the defense out of the team's 38, and McGwire Eigenrauch set 40 assists, two away from his career-high of 42.
The Pilots are now 2-1 against the Saints and undefeated at home. Their last home match with Aquinas was on Mar. 3, and they won in five sets. Out of 14 sets played between Aquinas and Bethel, the Saints took the Pilots to 20 or more points in 11 of them.
NEXT TIME OUT
The Pilots will travel to Grand Rapids, Mich., to play the Aquinas Saints again on Friday, Mar. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center on the campus of Aquinas College.
