COLUMBUS, Ind. --- Three Pilots hit double-digit points, including
Faith Fleetwood, who shot a career-high 10 points in the Bethel Pilots (5-4, 1-1) win over the IU-Columbus Crimson Pride (1-6, 0-0) 92-64 win for the Pilots first road win this season.
Olivia Nickerson dropped a team-leading 19 points on 7-for-11 shooting and 5-for-8 from beyond the arc, and
Caroline Morris hit 13 points with a perfect 5-for-5 shooting from the floor and 3-3 from the charity stripe. Fleetwood's career-high 10 points came from 3-for-7 shooting from the floor and 2-for-4 from three-point-range.
The Crimson Pride opened the game up 7-4 at 6:30 with a jumper before
Gracie Lambes answered with a layup at 6:01 to get within one point, 7-6.
Ellia Foster gave the Pilots the lead at 5:03 off a layup 8-7, then held the lead the rest of the quarter with Morris hitting a three-point play at 1:15 after getting fouled on a layup.
Hannah Ruddle brought the Pilots to a 20-point, 37-17 lead at 6:38, then the largest lead of the half came at 1:56 with Ruddle draining three free throws. Bethel was one point shy of the 30-point lead mark when
Jazmyn Smith hit a layup at 2:33 in the third quarter, then Fleetwood gave the Pilots a 31-point advantage at 8:57 with a triple. Fleetwood hit her final three with 45 seconds left in regulation for the Pilots first road win 92-64 and won the first all-time meeting with the Crimson Pride.
Bethel prepares for its highest-ranked opponent of the season, the NAIA second-ranked Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats, on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 5:30 p.m. in the Gates Gymnasium.
