MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- The crosstown match up between the IU-South Bend Titans (4-0) and the Bethel Pilots (3-2) in an 82-62 IU-South Bend victory in the Gates Gymnasium Wednesday night.
Caroline Morris tied her season-high 10 points with 5-for-8 (62%)Â shooting from the floor and
Isabel Scales grabbed a season-high nine boards.
Bethel overcame an early 8-4 deficit with
Mariah Claywell hitting a layup at 6:00 in the first quarter to take an 11-10 advantage.
At 1:12 in the first, the Titans went up 20-15 from a three-point play by Sydney Jerrells, then the Titans split a pair in their next possession to grow to 21-15 with 41 seconds left to go in the quarter.
The Titans hit a major 10-2 run to open the second quarter and quickly grew to a 33-19 lead, then stormed to an 18-point 39-21 edge.
With the clock winding down in the first-half, IUSB dropped one last triple to go into halftime up 46-27.
IU-South Bend hit the 31-point lead mark at 2:56 in the third from a pair from the line and ended the third 66-35.
With both benches on the floor, Bethel chipped the difference down, starting with Morris' layup at 6:51, and
Gracie Lambes dropped a three at 3:19 to cut the Titan lead to 75-53.
The Titans would end the game with a final split pair at the charity stripe to win 82-62.
The Pilots prepare for the Holy Cross Saints (Ind.) on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. in the Pfeil Center in Notre Dame, Ind.
