Women's Tennis advance to the Crossroads League Championship after sweep of #15 IWU

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Bethel Pilots Women's Tennis team (11-0, 8-0) continued their undefeated season with a 4-0 sweep over the #15 Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats (6-4, 5-3) to secure a spot in their first-ever Crossroads League Tournament Championship and broke the Wildcats 33 year streak of being the Crossroads League Champions.

The Pilots clinched the doubles point with decisive victories. Farida El Sayed and Ariadni Kokoula triumphed 6-1 over Jarna Meribel and Katie Parr in the No. 2 doubles match, while Kenzy Abdelaal and Sandy Sharaf secured a 6-2 win against Rebecca Dick and Maria Oliveira in the No. 3 doubles match.

In singles play, Kaavya Palani dominated France Antezana 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles match. Kenzy Abdelaal continued her stellar performance by defeating Katie Parr 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles match. Sandy Sharaf completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over her opponent in the No. 5 singles match.

The Pilots will now face the #19 Marian Knights for the Crossroads League Championship on Saturday, Oct. 5, with the match time to be decided at Ward Baker Park. The Pilots look to avenge their previous losses to the Knights in the 2023 Crossroads League semifinal and the 2022 quarterfinal, and look to advance to the NAIA National Championship in Mobile, Ala., for the first time in program history with a win over Marian.
