MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- Four Pilots scored double-digits in a neck-and-neck battle with the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars on Saturday afternoon that went down to the wire with both teams battling for their first Crossroads League win of the season.
Abby Williams scored a season-high 13 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks for the Pilots, and Nyla Asad's 10th straight 10+ point game by dropping 12 points against the Cougars on seven rebounds.
It stayed within a two-possession game until 7:04 in the fourth quarter as Kallie Harrison dropped a triple to put the Pilots up 57-51, but would lose the lead at 1:42 by back-to-back layups from Mount Vernon Nazarene's Peyton Davis and Madelyn Lawson.
In the final seconds, Nyla Asad missed the three-pointer, and Maiah Shelton nearly hit the half-court heave to win but hit the backboard, hit the rim, and then bounced out.
