Toccoa Falls, Ga. --- The Bethel Pilots (6-3) defeated the Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles (7-6) in a high-scoring affair in game one of the three-game series at TFC Field in Toccoa Falls, Ga.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pilots struck first in the top of the second with junior catcher Dominic Deisler reaching first on a walk and Silas Kaser courtesy ran for Deisler; Kaser reached third on a Corbin Greenslade single and scored on the next batter to give the Pilots the 1-0 lead.
Toccoa Falls answered back with a two-run homer in the bottom of the second frame by freshman utility player Bricen Blankenship to switch the lead 2-1.
In the top of the third, the Pilots fought back with a fly ball to center by Eli MacDonald and allowed fifth-year senior Andrew Miranda to tag up and score from third to make it 2-2. Alex Stout hit a two-run bomb to score Jeremy Wiersema and took the lead 4-2.
The Screaming Eagles battled back and re-took the lead in the bottom of the third on one swing, with a Charlie Compton three-run home run and turned the tide again 5-4.
Wiersema hit the fourth home run of the game on a solo shot to tie the game in the top of the fifth, and Deisler added an insurance run on an RBI double to score Stout. Pilots lead 7-5.
The Pilots tacked on another run in the top of the seventh with an RBI single by Stout that scored Miranda and made the score 8-5.
The Screaming Eagles answered in the bottom of the frame on a sac fly to right field by Jack Kraus to chip away 8-6.
Thomas Dolan put another on the board after he hit the fifth home run of the game to score two and give the Pilots a 10-6 lead. Toccoa Falls' Andrew Hammerle hit the sixth home run of the game to score two and shave the lead down to one, 10-8.
It did not end there. Compton homered again with a two-run bomb; this time, he gave Toccoa Falls their third lead. The Screaming Eagles scored three more insurance runs on the seventh home run of the game by Smith to increase their lead to 13-9.
With the game on the line, the Pilots scored on a Seth Ambrose RBI single to get within one run in the top of the ninth. Dolan deleted the Screaming Eagle lead and turned the tide on an RBI single to make it 14-13. Miranda kept the good times rolling with the third RBI single of the inning to increase the Pilot lead to 16-13. Toccoa Falls answered with an RBI single by Krause to end the game with a Pilot victory 16-14.

- Alex Stout hit a season-high four hits in a single game after going 4-for-5 at the plate.
