Box Score Mishawaka, Ind. --- It was a disheartening loss on Wednesday night's Women's Basketball (8-19, 4-14) senior night game against the Saint Francis Cougars (15-14, 10-8), where the Pilots lost 77-70.
Bethel started playing from behind, hovering around a five-point deficit, but junior
Nyla Asad drained a three to drop the deficit to two points. Freshman
Mariah Claywell gave the Pilots their first game lead on a deep ball of her own to put them up 19-18.
In the second quarter, the Pilots found a rhythm and maintained a six-point lead thanks to an
Ellia Foster triple at 6:12, and Asad forced herself to the line and split the pair. Junior
Kallie McElroy peaked the Pilot lead with a three-pointer at 1:41 and went into half-time with a 40-36 lead when Asad split another pair at the charity stripe.
The spoils were rich in the third quarter with a 10-point Pilot lead thanks to a Shelton three at 7:52 to make it 48-38. The Pilots would take control of the quarter ending with an
Ellia Foster triple with 46 seconds left.
The Cougars tied the game at 8:13 in the fourth quarter on a three-point play by Saint Francis' Ally Madden to make it a 59-all ballgame. The Pilot deficit would balloon to six points at 3:28 left in regulation and grow to seven to doom the Pilots on a disheartening loss on senior night.
Maiah Shelton led the offense with 16 points on 50% shooting from the floor and five assists, while Asad and
Katie Kinker crashed the boards with seven and six rebounds, respectively.

- Bethel allowed the Cougars to shoot 42% percent from beyond the arc and 10-second chance points.
- The Pilots took advantage of 14 points off turnovers and scored 40 bench points, which aided in the lead.

The final stanza for the Pilots will be in Ritteneyer Center in Whiting, Ind., to take on the Calumet College of St. Joseph Crimson Wave on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 2:00 p.m.
