MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- For the fourth time in program history, the Women's Soccer team will participate in the NCCAA National Championship at the Austin-Tindall Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fl. starting on Nov. 27.
The fifth-seeded Pilots will take on the first-seed Mid-America Christian on the 27th at 1 p.m. and Redeemer University out of Canada on the 28th at 1 p.m. in Pool A of the tournament.
SCOUTING MID-AMERICA CHRISTIAN
The Mustangs are 14-3-2 on the season and finished the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) tilt 6-1-2. MACU fell to the NAIA ninth-ranked John Brown Golden Eagles 3-1 in the SAC Tournament semifinal after tying the Golden Eagles 0-0 in the regular season.
Gladis Avalos leads MACU's scoring with seven goals and three assists, but the scoring was widespread throughout the season with Kadin Stinson's six goals, Madison Chavez's five, and Francesca Martella's five.
Goalkeeper Rachel Torres holds a record of 13-3-1 and recorded 48 saves and averages under a goal-per-game going into the tournament.
SCOUTING REDEEMER UNIVERSITY
The Royals play outside the Canadian provinces for the first time this season after earning a 6-3-5 record and 5-1-4 in the Ontario Collegiate Athletic Association (OCAA).
Their season ended in shootout fashion, 1-0 to the Conestoga Condors, losing 7-6 in the shootout.
Out of 10 games played, Emily Walraven scored five goals as the leading scorer for the Royals with four assists.
Lily Brown recorded four clean slates and a 4-0-3 record as the keeper, and the Royal defense held opponents to only nine goals this season.
TOURNAMENT OUTLOOK
The winner of pools A and B will face off for the NCCAA Championship on Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. Each win in pool play will be worth three points, a tie one point, and loss zero points to calculate the winner of each pool.
