Mishawaka, Ind.--- The Bethel University Women's Basketball team started their season in style Thursday night at the Wiekamp Center, winning their season opener 67-61 over Cornerstone University and giving new head coach
Scott Polsgrove his first coaching victory at BU.

The Pilots were led by sophomore
Maiah Shelton, who scored 23 points and grabbing 5 rebounds.
Katie Kinker added 12 points and 4 rebounds and
Nyla Asad chipped in 7 points and 3 steals.
Bethel's halftime lead of 40-31 was cut to 2 points on two occasions, but timely free throw shooting down the stretch sealed the win.
For the game, Bethel converted on 15 of 21 from the charity stripe (71%).

Bethel had 16 bench points and 8 second chance points. They also had 7 points off turnovers and 26 total points in the paint.
